Kolkata: After actress Sunny Leone and singer Neha Kakkar, it is Japan’s cartoon character Shinchan Nohara who seems to be taking admission in a Kolkata College.
On Monday, Shinchan Nohara’s name appeared at the top of the BSc (Honours) merit list at Siliguri College in north Bengal, stated an official of the institution.
“The name was immediately removed and a fresh list was put up up on the college website. We have lodged a police complaint as it was an act of mischief,” The Hindu quoted the official saying.
However, soon after the incident, the name was taken down and an updated list was put on the official website.
The college had reportedly outsourced an agency to compile the merit list as per the details of the candidates mentioned in their online applications. The official also said that the students’ details will be scrutinised by the authorities of the institution before the classes begin.
Previously in a similar incident, singer Neha Kakkar’s name had appeared in BA English (Honours) merit list of Malda’s Manikchak College and actor Sunny Leone’s name appeared in the lists of three other colleges.
Following the slip-up, all the four colleges have lodged complaints with the cyber cells of the police.
