Gangtok: The Sikkim government has introduced self-defence training for girl students of Class VI-X, according to an official.
Special secretary, Education department, Bhim Thatal said that girls would be trained to defend themselves during the inauguration of the self-defence training programme for girls at Samdong Government Senior Secondary School on Sunday, reported news agency PTI.
According to Thatal, the self-defence training will inculcate discipline in the students as well as prepare them for future hurdles.
Girls will be provided training in taekwondo, karate, boxing and kickboxing, the special secretary said.
