Special Grievance Cell Set Up In Uttarakhand For Jammu And Kashmir Students

Dehradun: The Uttarakhand government has set up a special grievance cell for students of Jammu & Kashmir studying in their state. A special nodal officer has also been appointed to address issues faced by Kashmiri students.

A week earlier, a delegation of Jammu and Kashmir Students Association had informed DGP (Law and Order) Ashok Kumar about problems Kashmiri students are facing in Uttarakhand.

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mamta Vohra will be the nodal officer, NDTV reported.

“If there is any apprehension or misconduct towards them, they should contact Vohra,” Kumar said.

As per an official release, any Jammu and Kashmir student or resident, if threatened or harassed in Uttarakhand, can directly complain to the nodal officer by dialling 9412029346 or can write to the email ID [email protected].

The mobile phone and email will be manned round the clock.

Kumar assured steps will be promptly taken to ensure students’ safety and that he himself is closely monitoring the situation.
