New Delhi: With the COVID-19 pandemic striking India at a time when the academic year/course was about to end, colleges and universities had to look for alternate ways to get their students placed.
Like several other colleges, Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), New Delhi, took their placement process online this year, keeping in view the apprehensions caused by the coronavirus.
India’s premier commerce college, SRCC hosted over 120 recruiters who have extended over 500 offers to students. The highest package offered is Rs 17 lakh per annum during this placement season.
“It was quite challenging to be able to digitalize the entire process quickly and seamlessly, given that COVID had taken a drastic toll on the recruitment sector. As a team, we were happy with the fact that our statistics were still on a gradual rise and didn’t record any fall amidst the hiring freeze. The belief in our core values of driving progress and endeavour for the welfare of the batch is what kept us going during these tough times,” said the Chief Secretary of SRCC’s Placement Cell, as reported by DU Express.
Recruiters came from 15 sectors, including finance, FMCG and venture capital.
