Kolkata: The Jadavpur University (JU) has taken a decision to provide students with Android mobile handsets and data pack for the upcoming semester. According to an official, semester classes are scheduled to begin on Sunday. This scheme is only for students who don’t have such facilities.
The JU will hold final semester examination in arts and science streams from October 1 to 10 in contactless digital mode, according to news agency PTI.
The university’s Pro-Vice-Chancellor Chiranjib Bhattacharya also told the news agency on Sunday that students not having smartphones and internet connectivity will be provided with the handsets and data pack in arts, science and engineering streams very soon.
“We will provide them with good quality sets compatible with net facilities, sharing, uploading and downloading options and for those needing good connectivity data pack and recharge for three months,” Bhattacharya was quoted as saying by PTI.
According to him, the total number of such students was under assessment after students’ unions forwarded their own survey figure.
