Students To Get Board Results Even If They Appear In One Exam, Clarifies CBSE

New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Monday announced that students failing to appear for both Term-1 and Term-2 exams won’t be allowed to sit for compartment exams this year. Such students will have to repeat the class.

The CBSE Term-2 exams for both Class 10 and 12 begin on April 26.

Sanyam Bhardwaj, Controller of Examinations, made the announcement in a live webinar ahead of the exams.

However, students who appear in one of the exams — either Term-1 or Term-2 — will receive results based on their performance.

Besides, a student unable to take all the exams because of COVID-19 and appearing for only three-four papers will be evaluated under a special scheme. “The alternate grading scheme will be decided by the board at the appropriate time and will be in favour of students,” Bhardwaj said.

Conditions under which students will get board exam results:

* Appeared for Term-1 but absent in Term-2

* Appeared for Term-2 but absent in Term-1

* Appeared for all papers in Term-1 but failed to appear for 1 or 2 papers in Term-2

* Appears for all papers in Term-2 but failed to appear for 1 or 2 papers in Term-1

Schools will receive special funding to provide basic facilities to students taking Term-2 exams. Schools will receive Rs 2 per student every day for providing safe drinking water to them during the exams.

Schools will be paid Rs 5,000 for making COVID arrangements, and Rs 5 per student for providing sanitisers and hand wash.
