Chandigarh: Punjab school education minister Vijay Inder Singla declared the summer vacation for all government, semi-government and private schools here from May 24 to June 23.
Educational institutions are currently closed due to rise in COVID-19 cases. As per the new announcement, teachers and other staffers will also enjoy a month’s vacation from Monday.
“The Congress government, led by chief minister Capt. Amarinder Singh, has been taking precautionary measures for the safety of people in pandemic times,” Singla was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
According to the minister, teachers had been teaching students in online mode with the help of mobile apps and TV channels since the closure of schools last year. “They have started helping students in every possible way to complete the remaining syllabus this year,” the minister added.
