New Delhi: The Supreme Court adjourned the hearing of a plea that sought orders to the Centre, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) to cancel the CBSE, ICSE Class XII examinations. The matter will again be taken up for hearing on May 31.
The Justice AM Khanwilkar-headed bench adjourned the hearing for Monday following observation that the government is likely to take a call on the same by June 1.
“Be optimistic. Maybe, by Monday some resolution will be in your favour. We will hear the matter on Monday,” the bench was quoted as saying to the petitioner by news agency ANI.
The court also directed the petitioner to serve the copy of the petition to the CBSE, ICSE and Centre and said the boards should be represented by their respective lawyers.
The plea has urged the court to set aside the CBSE and CISCE notifications dated April 14, April 16 and April 19. These were issued only in respect of clauses dealing with the Class XII examination postponement.
