New Delhi: The Supreme Court has dismissed a petition by students of private colleges seeking fee waiver amid the lockdown.
As per the petition, the students contended that many parents are facing financial problems at present and therefore it would be difficult for them to pay the fees.
However, a three-judge Bench of Justices Ashok Bhushan, Sanjay Kishan Kaul and BR Gavai dismissed the plea, saying that if colleges do not get fees, then it would be difficult for them to maintain their cash flows and pay salaries to their staff members.
The students can talk to the universities concerned about their concerns, the ruling added.
Schools and colleges in the country have been closed since March 16 due to the coronavirus outbreak.
