Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister E Palaniswami announced free data cards for college students here on Sunday. The data cards will have 2GB quota per day to pursue education on the online platform.
Palaniswami, via a statement issued here, said owing to COVID-19 pandemic, the colleges are holding online classes for students. To enable the students to attend the online classes, the state government has decided to give free data cards with a usage capacity of 2 GB per day between January and April 2021.
According to news agency IANS, Palaniswami said the data cards will be issued to about 9.69 lakh students of the government and government-assisted colleges by the Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu Ltd. (Elcot), a state government undertaking.
