Chennai: The colleges in Tamil Nadu will resort to online classes from Tuesday following a state government order.
The colleges have been ordered by the government to hold online classes after a sudden surge in COVID-19 cases in the state and beyond.
“Yes, the health department had informed the education department and the Chief Minister to issue an order to conduct online classes for college students as there is a spike in Covid-19 cases in the state,” Tamil Nadu Health Minister Vijayabhaskar was quoted as saying by news agency IANS.
An order has been issued by the state chief secretary Rajeev Ranjan on Monday following discussions with the Higher Education Department officials and health officials. According to the order, colleges have been directed to hold online classes 6 days a week.
