Tamil Nadu Education Minister Delighted As Students Join Government Schools

Chennai: Tamil Nadu School Education Minister KA Sengottaiyan expressed his delight over a large number of students joining the state-run schools. Around 5.18 lakh students from different private schools across Tamil Nadu have joined the government schools. He said this reverse exodus is a heartwarming trend.

“From a migration of about 20,000 to 50,000 students to private schools in the past, there has been a steep enrollment in our schools. About 5.18 lakh students who opted out of several private schools have joined government schools,” Sengottaiyan was quoted as saying by PTI.

The minister also added that the mass departure of students from state government schools in the past has completely changed and a large number of students are going to state-run schools.

Saying that this is something that gives happiness, the minister claimed that several sections appreciated the curriculum of government schools, stating it as better than that of CBSE schools.
