Two Lakh Candidates Missed JEE Main This Year: Govt

New Delhi: Over 2 lakh students did not appear for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main held from September 1 to 6 this year, the Union Education Ministry told the Rajya Sabha.

The number of absentees was more than double of that in the previous year.

According to ministry, out of the 858,395 registered candidates, 649,612 appeared in the examination this year.

Students can take the JEE (Main) twice every year.

The ministry’s data revealed that 11,05,514 candidates had enrolled for the second attempt for JEE (Main) in April 2019. Out of these, 10,25,128 took the test, leaving only 80,386 absentees.
