NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that the December 2025 session of the UGC NET 2025 exams will start on December 31, 2025 and continue until January 7, 2026.
The UGC NET December 2025 exams set to be conducted in computer-based test (CBT) mode for 85 subjects. The exam seeks to determine the eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), Assistant Professor, and PhD admissions in Indian universities and colleges, said an official notification.

The NTA has said that the notification for intimation of city of exam centre will be displayed on NTA website, ugcnet.nta.nic.in, 10 days before the start of the exam.
Meanwhile, the application process for NTA UGC NET December 2025 began on October 7 and the link to register will remain open till November 7.
Candidates will also get the provision to edit their UGC NET December 2025 application forms between November 10 and 12.
The NTA had earlier urged the aspirants to ensure that their Aadhaar card, UDID card (for persons with disabilities), and category certificates (EWS/ SC/ ST/ OBC-NCL) are updated and valid when filling out the UGC NET 2025 December application form. This step seeks to avoid discrepancies or rejection at later stages of the admission process.

The advisory highlights that the Aadhaar card should have accurate details, including the candidate’s name, date of birth (as per Class 10 certificate), photograph, address, and father’s name. Similarly, candidates with disabilities must ensure their certificates are valid, updated and renewed as required. Candidates belonging to the reserved categories will have to make sure that their certificates are current and compliant with requirements.
