New Delhi: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has asked universities and colleges not to force students to pay their fees immediately.
The UGC missive came after students and parents complained that economic activities were halted amidst the lockdown and they were not in a financial position to pay tuition, examination and other fees at present, Hindustan Times reported.
Taking note of this concern, UGC wrote to college principals and university vice chancellors: “It is requested that in view of the prevailing extraordinary difficult circumstances, universities and colleges may consider the matter regarding payment of annual/semester fee, tuition fee, examination fee, etc. sympathetically and if feasible, may consider offering alternative payment options to students till the situation returns to normal.”
