Bhubaneswar: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has urged all vice-chancellors and principals of universities and colleges respectively to encourage student and/or teacher between the ages I8 and 30 years to join the Young Warrior Movement to safeguard themselves, their families, communities, and the country.
The UGC is collaborating with the Ministry of Education (AICTE, CBSE), Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, UNICEF-YuWaah, civil society organisations, UN agencies and the private sector consortium of over 1500-plus partners who have activated the ‘Young Warrior movement.’
“They can also encourage and engage younger peers of students and teachers to participate in the Young Warrior movement. There are essentially five tasks that are part of the Young Warrior Movement and Young Warriors will be eligible for a UNICEF certificate on completion of tasks (Platform is available in l2 languages),” read the UGC letter.
It may be recalled that the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) had started the movement that engages 5 million young people to lead action against COVID-19 with an aim to impact 50 million people.
Those who join the movement will be given a series of tasks such as promoting access to verified health and essential services, vaccine registration, COVID appropriate behaviour, myth-busting etc. For completing the tasks, students/teachers will get certificates from UNICEF.
