New Delhi: The University Grants Commission (UGC) wants universities and colleges to take students to visit the National War Memorial and the National Police Memorial here as part of official study tours.
The higher education regulator said this via a letter to the vice-chancellors and college principals.
According to the UGC, it will act as a source of inspiration to future generations as these memorials have been set up to mark the valour of Indian soldiers who laid down their lives to protect the sovereignty and integrity of the country, reported ABP Education.
The National War Memorial was set up for paying tribute to the martyred soldiers in India-China war, Indo-Pak wars, Kargil conflict and Indian Peace Keeping Force Operations in Sri Lanka.
The National Police Memorial pays homage to Central and State police personnel who sacrificed their lives in their fight against terrorism, militancy and insurgency.
