New Delhi: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has set September 20 as the deadline for all universities and affiliated colleges to provide information about the vacant teaching positions.
In a communication to the vice-chancellors and institute directors, UGC said the data along with the recruitment process should be uploaded on the commission’s university monitoring portal.
Earlier in July and August, it had asked the institutes to furnish all details about the vacant posts, reservations and advertisement details.
The latest communication from UGC comes as Central Universities have launched one of the biggest recruitment drives in recent times in the higher education sector to fill up over 5900 teaching posts.
The total number of vacancies for which recruitment is currently underway across 39 central universirties is 5,926.
There could also be a second round of recruitment drive after the current one gets over in two-three months time.
According to HRD Ministry, 6700 posts in all central universities are to be filled up by the end of this financial year.
Large scale vacancies in universities and colleges have derailed much of the government’s efforts to raise the quality of higher education in the country.
