New Delhi: The University Grants Commission (UGC) is likely to give freedom to universities and colleges to take a call on the pending examination schedule and academic calendar for the forthcoming session.
Besides, the winter vacation and other holidays in 2020-21 could be curtailed.
“Universities will be given more flexibility in terms of deciding when and how they can conduct the exams and when they can start the academic session. Everything will depend upon locally favourable conditions in the area, whether the area has a large number of COVID-19 infections or less,” UGC secretary Rajnish Jain was quoted as saying by the Print.
UGC has deliberated on the report submitted by the two committees to come up with recommendations for conducting examinations and the new academic session amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The guidelines for the varsities will be out soon, the secretary added.
