New Delhi: With Prime Minister Narendra Modi all set to launch the ‘Fit India Movement’ on August 29, UGC has asked universities and affiliated colleges across the country to make special arrangements for live viewing of the programme on the campus.
In a communication, UGC has asked all present to attempt to walk at least 10,000 steps and follow it up in their daily routine.
Fit India Movement is an initiative conceptualised by the PM to make Indians healthy in day-to-day life.
The programme will be launched by him from the Indira Gandhi indoor stadium in the Capital.
To make the PM’s mission a success, the vice-chancellors have been asked to prepare and implement an institutional fitness plan, incorporating sports, exercise, physical activities for fitness into a daily routine for everybody to adopt and practice.
The plan will be publicised and uploaded on the institute website within a month.
As per some media reports, the fit India movement will encourage citizens to involve themselves in simple exercises on a daily basis such as climbing stairs and playing. With time, these activities should become an integral part of a person’s daily routine.
