Lucknow: Despite the COVID-19 scare, the students of Classes IX to XII will have to appear for more tests in the coming session in Uttar Pradesh government schools.
Besides the monthly and half-yearly examinations in schools recognised by the UP Secondary Education Board, the state government has decided to conduct quarterly tests.
According to the 2021-22 academic calendar, the quarterly test is slated to be held in the second half of September.
Meanwhile, the secondary education department has directed the schools to feed marks obtained by students in each test, right from monthly to quarterly, internal assessments, pre-boards, and annual, on the board’s online portal, reported news agency IANS.
“In an unprecedented situation such as Covid which forced cancellation of board exams, we have to rely on secondary data to devise a marking formula. The data collection exercise is time-taking. Now, the board will have marks of students in all examinations they appeared in,” an official said.
