Eligibility criteria
Candidates must fulfil the prescribed academic and professional qualifications for their chosen subject.
A general graduation degree alone does not ensure eligibility. The required subject combination, marks, teacher-training qualification and TET status must also be checked.
Educational Qualification: A recognised bachelor’s degree or other prescribed qualification with the required subject combination and marks, as applicable to the post
Teaching Qualification: B.Ed. from an NCTE-recognised programme or the applicable prescribed training qualification
TET Requirement: Pass in the applicable Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) for the upper-primary level, Classes 6–8, as specified in the notification.
Age limit
The minimum age is 21 years and the maximum is 62 years as July 1, 2026. Reserved categories get relaxation as per UP Government rules.
Selection process
Selection is based on the performance of candidates in the written exam, and your final merit depends on the total marks.
Written Examination: 120 objective questions carrying 360 marks, with a duration of two hours.
Merit List: Candidates are ranked based on their written-examination marks.
Tie-Breaking Rule: If candidates obtain equal merit, the notification provides for consideration of graduation percentage, followed by the percentage in the training qualification. If the relevant percentages are also equal, the older candidate is placed higher.
Document Verification: Candidates must submit the required educational, training, TET and other supporting documents for verification.
