Kolkata: Approximately 8000 IT professionals have got jobs in West Bengal who have migrated from other places owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, a state Information Technology department official said.
An app called ‘Karma Bhumi’ was developed for professionals who had returned from other parts of the country to get enlisted for employment in the state for a limited time period, reported EdexLive.
“With the advent of COVID, there has been a huge influx of IT professionals here from outside,” state government IT Department’s joint secretary, Sanjay Das, was quoted as saying by the website.
Das, while speaking at a webinar by Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Friday night, said the government found that this to be an opportunity to tap the talent pool for which the app had been thought of, according to the website.
