New Delhi: With several states cancelling college and university examinations in view of rising COVID-19 cases across the country, the University Grants Commission (UGC) is yet to issue any official communication in this regard.
This has put the students in a sort of quandary as preparations for exams have taken a backseat thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic’s scare and apprehensions. The social media is also abuzz with the question “When will UGC issue new guidelines?”
While students are expecting uniform decision for all final year examinations, it is up to the UGS to take a final call on the matter. Recently, Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank had also asked the body to ‘revisit’ its guidelines on holding exams and the next academic calendar.
According to reports in indiatvnews.com, the guidelines are expected in a couple of days. This will end the students’ anxiousness for the pending exams.
It may be recalled that in April the higher education authority had issued a set of guidelines saying fresh admissions would have to be completed by August and the academic session would start in September 2020.
This helped the colleges and university determine their examination modes.
