Kharagpur: In view of rising demands from students for the GATE 2022 postponement due to the worsening COVID situation, the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, issued a notification and hinted at the postponement.
The GATE 2022 is scheduled for February 5, 6, 12 and 13 and the admit card for the exam has already been issued at gate.iitkgp.ac.in on January 15. Over 8 lakh students are likely to take the exam in 2022.
The IIT Kharagpur via the fresh notification said that the GATE 2022 exam may get deferred due to a surge in COVID-19 cases, reported Careers360. The premier institute also advised the applicants appearing for the GATE 2022 exam to get vaccinated for COVID-19.
“The health and safety of our examination participants is of utmost priority. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic situation, all dates mentioned in this website may change. In rare cases, the GATE 2022 examination may be postponed or cancelled due to situations beyond control. All the candidates are advised to get vaccinated for Covid-19,” the IIT Kharagpur notification said.
Earlier, IIT Kharagpur director Virendra Kumar Tewari had said that the decision on GATE 2022 will be made soon after reviewing the situation.
