Will Talk To CBSE For Mainstreaming Of Vocation Subjects: Delhi Dy CM

The Delhi government will approach the CBSE with a proposal to treat vocational subjects as main subjects in schools and not as additional ones, said the State Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.

Sisodia, known for his role in transforming Delhi Government Schools, made the statement while speaking at an event on Sunday to celebrate the completion of the internship training programme of over 5,000 Delhi government school students.

“All schools should be having vocational subjects in their curriculum. And these subjects should be treated on par with the regular subjects. We aim to make the vocational subject as the main subject and not as an additional subject. We will be talking to CBSE about it soon,” he said.

“Abdul kalam dreamt that school education should give vocational proficiency to students. He had shared his thoughts with us when we asked him for guidance on school education. I am happy to say that we are moving towards realising his dream,” Sisodia said.

Earlier, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had announced the setting up of skills and entrepreneurship university with an intake capacity of 50,000 students. The enrolled students will undergo training in market-driven skill sets.
