Delhi University: Technical Glitches In Admin Web Meetings, Deans Oppose Open Book Examinations

New Delhi: The first online meeting between the Vice-Chancellor and Deans of Delhi University faced technical glitches due to poor connectivity issues. Citing this reason, 12 out of 16 Deans opposed the idea of Online Open Book Examinations stating that “if they could face such technical issues in Delhi, then how would students in rural areas over cope with it during exams.”

The string of oppositions is now expanding with students, teachers and now Deans demanding alternative methods to grade students during the coronavirus crisis.

Still, the Dean of Examinations, Vinay Gupta, issued the circular stating that DU will be conducting open-book examinations. 

The university has rejected the alternative method of grading students based on internals and marks obtained in previous semesters stating that it will be unfair and most of the students will have a similar range of marks. 

The opposition though stands on its ground reiterating the problems of technical issues, network inaccessibility that the students will face in far-flung rural districts as well the issue of study material and authenticity of exams.
