Cuttack: The annual Matric examinations in Odisha began on Wednesday. The exams conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) is being held at 2,888 centres across the state.
According to reports, students were allowed to enter the exam halls at 9.20 am after thorough checking.
The exams got underway at 10 am with Odia (first language) after the question papers kept sealed under three layers of security were opened by the centre superintendents and invigilators. Later, the students opened the sealed question papers comprising subjective and objective questions.
A total of 5,60,905 students are appearing in the exams which will conclude on March 2.
BSE sources said adequate security arrangements were in place for smooth conduct of the exam, including CCTV cameras at 1,000 sensitive centres to check malpractices.
Besides, police teams are deployed at the centres to ward off any untoward incident.
