As quirky as it might sound, a Bengaluru based Startup – ‘Wakefit Innovations Pvt. Ltd,’ is offering Rs 1 lakh to interns for sleeping 9 hours for 100 days. The Start-up company has come up with a “sleep internship” in order to monitor people’s sleeping patterns.
Required Skills
According to the company website, the skill needed for the internship, “is a fanatical passion for sleep and an innate ability to fall asleep at the slightest given opportunity.”
Yet another skill that the company asks for is, “an unmatched zeal for breaking your own sleep records, a mastery over this fine art, and of course, your favourite pajamas!”
Job Description
Interns will be expected to sleep on the company-provided mattress for 9 hours, 7 nights a week, for100 days at home itself.
“Just sleep. For as long as you can, as deep as you can and as competitively as you can. You just rest. Leave the rest to us”, reads the job description on Wakefit’s website.
The sleeping pattern of the interns will be monitored using a tracker before and after using the mattress. There is one condition though – interns will not be allowed to use laptop during their “work” hours. The selected intern will get Rs 1 lakh at the end of 100 days on completing the task properly.
The sleep internship is an attempt to bring back focus on sleeping health and “is another step towards making sleep an integral part of maintaining work-life balance in our lives,” said Chaitanya Ramalingegowda, the director and co-founder of Wakefit to Business insider.
As per reports, the organisation is in favour of having nap rooms in offices. It also carries a survey on “right to work naps” asking people questions like, if their companies have nap rooms, how often does one sleep during meetings, what do you do when you feel sleepy at work.
