Varanasi: Banaras Hindu University (BHU) is enhancing its infrastructure with an eye to make an entry into the list of top 500 universities in the world.
The varsity received a fund of Rs 1,000 crore from the Centre a few months ago under the Institute of Excellence (IoE) scheme for upgrading academic and research facilities.
“BHU is expanding its international hostel, building smart classrooms, upgrading graduate and postgraduate laboratories, and beautifying its campus under the institute of excellence (IoE) scheme,” university’s public relations officer Dr Rajesh Singh told the media.
About 369 research projects worth over Rs 157 crore are underway in the university, he added.
At present, the varsity’s super speciality block is providing medical treatment to COVID-19 patients.
