The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), the national body which regulates Chartered Accountants (CA) profession in the country, could become the first board in the country to conduct digital evaluation of the answer scripts.
In a communication, it has informed that papers of CA Intermediate and Foundation level exams to be held in November 2019 and May 2020 will be put through the digital evaluation process.
It listed out the following benefits:
1. The digital evaluation will help ICAI get rid of the tardy process of physical handling of answer books.
2. It will do away with the scope of variations in marks awarded by examiners.
3. Eliminate any scope of any totalling errors.
4. The digital evaluation will ensure continuous review of the performance of the Examiners on real-time basis.
5. It will generate analytical reports, thus enabling quality control checks.
The communication further said that the decision to go for digital evaluation was taken after ‘certain adverse reports’ relating to the system of evaluation of answer books of CA exams started doing the rounds in social media.
This is continuation further from the pilot e-evaluation for the first group of Intermediate exams held in November 2018, it added.
