CBSE Allows Students Who Failed In Improvement Exam To Retain Original Marksheet
New Delhi: The students who failed in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) improvement exam have something to cheer about.
The Board has decided to consider their previous ‘pass’ result as the final in the interest of the students’ career.
The CBSE filed an affidavit in response to a plea filed by a group of students who either failed or secured less than the earlier marks scored under the board’s tabulation policy.
According to the CBSE, students who were declared fail or RT (repeat theory) in the result announced for class XII on September 29 will be permitted to retain their previous results.
The board further said that the decision was made to ensure that the academic career of a student is not affected and in view of the altered syllabus for the current academic session.
“Thus, this is a conscious and reasoned decision to give relief to only such students who have failed in the improvement exam but had passed as per the tabulation policy,” said the CBSE affidavit filed by advocate Rupesh Kumar.
According to the earlier condition in the tabulation policy, in case a student appears for the improvement test, the marks obtained will be considered as the final marks. The student had no right to claim on the previous marksheet.
