IIT-Bombay Most Sought-After Tech Institute In Country; Know Why

Mumbai: Most of the students who cleared the Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) 2021 have chosen the IIT-Bombay after the close of round 1 admission 2021-22. This made the IIT-Bombay the most sought-after institute followed by IIT-Delhi and IIT-Madras.

Nine of the top 10 rankers will study their BTech in computer science at IIT-B this year. Going through the rank list further, one can see 43 of the top 50 have followed suit and picked the Powai campus over any other tech institute.

Among the top 100 JEE(A)-2021 rankholders who are admitted to the IITs in 2021, more than half or 58 preferred IIT-B over any other institute. This was followed by IIT-Delhi, where 32 of the top 100 have taken admission. In 2020, 64 of the top 100 joined IIT-Bombay and 33 IIT-Delhi.

“This year, we saw that 9 of the top 10 rankers chose IIT-B. Most of our streams have attained new peaks. As soon as one branch closed and the next opened, students picked IIT Bombay over the others. This tells us that we are the preferred choice,” IIT-B director Subhasis Chaudhuri was quoted as saying by The Times of India.

According to faculty at IIT-B, it is the quality of education, campus ambience, rigour and research that electrify the institute’s academic and social life.

“Research and teaching at the IITs, especially the first-generation ones, is comparable at the undergraduate level. I feel it is the perception among students that makes them pick one institute over the other,” JEE chairman at IIT-Delhi, Parag Singla was quoted as saying by the national daily.
