Chennai: The annual ‘Open House’ 2022 organised by the IIT Madras Centre For Innovation (CFI) saw over 60 innovative tech projects made by the students on Sunday, March 13.
The event was organised in physical mode after two years and it showcased autonomous vehicles, rockets apart from the first-ever electric formula car from the institute made completely by the Student Team ‘Raftar.’
For the first time, this edition was also made accessible on a Metaverse platform called ‘Gather Town’ to the limited audience this year. This was organised to highlight their innovations to other stakeholders who were not physically present.
More than 1,500 people, including around 100 eminent industrialists and IIT Madras alumni, took part physically with another 500 participating virtually through ‘Gather Town’.
IIT Madras director, V Kamakoti, said this activity taken up by CFI provides not only a platform for young innovators to showcase their creations but also serves as a great source of inspiration for other young students to innovate.
The director also launched the new CFI website — https://cfi.iitm.ac.in/ — during the occasion.
