Thiruvananthapuram: She could have been content after she got her father’s job in the police department under the die-in-harness scheme in 2012. A clerical job wasn’t something that Minnu PM had aimed for.
Minnu wanted to pursue a bigger goal like cracking the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services exam. The 30-year-old always felt that she got her father’s job and that she didn’t earn it.
“It was his job, not mine. I did not clear the examinations to get it. So, I’ve to earn my job,” she was quoted as saying by The New Indian Express.
The Kariavattom native achieved her ambition of cracking the UPSC Civil Services when the Main Exam 2020 result was declared on Friday and she bagged the 150th rank.
Academically excellent Minnu lost her father when she was in Class XII. She stood second in the Masters in biochemistry from Kerala University.
Minnu began nurturing her dream of clearing the Civil Services Exam in 2015 and within two years, she managed to clear the Mains. But she faltered in the viva a bit and was 13 marks short of making it to the list.
She is now working in the Police Headquarters and said it was her dedication coupled with superiors’ help that led to success.
“Former DGP Loknath Behera, ADGP Manoj Abraham and other IPS officers in the headquarters helped me a lot,” Minnu said. Minnu’s husband Joshy DJ works in ISRO and the couple has a son studying in Class II.
