Bhubaneswar: Following the announcement of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET-UG 2021) result, Odisha will begin the online counselling process soon.
Admission will be held for 1450 MBBS seats in Odisha in 2021. The number of seats was increased from last year’s 1350.
The additional 100 seats will be provided by the newly-established medical college in Puri. There are eight state-run and two private medical colleges with 1,450 seats, besides 500 seats of two deemed-to-be universities in Odisha.
The Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) authorities conduct the counselling process for the 10 medical colleges (including two private ones), while the deemed-to-be universities follow a separate arrangement for admission to 500 MBBS seats.
“The Sri Jagannath Medical College and Hospital in Puri is scheduled to conduct admission this year, but a letter from the government regarding participation in medical counselling is yet to come. After we get the permission, we will conduct admission this year,” an official of the directorate of medical education and training (DMET) was quoted as saying by The Times of India.
The Union ministry of health and family welfare-headed medical council committee is set to release notification on the seat allotment process for the all-India quota. Students who qualified in the NEET-UG 2021 are eligible to take part in the counselling process.
