Bhubaneswar/Cuttack: School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash on Thursday said the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) will abide by the decision of the Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) on offline exams for Divyang students.
The minister said a total of 2555 students including 139 Divyang ones from nine special schools had appeared in the Matric exams through correspondence. However, the BSE did not announce the results of the Divyang students because their schools are not affiliated.
“The OHRC has directed the BSE not to go ahead with the offline exams of these 139 differently-abled students. As the Commission will announce its ruling today (Thursday), the Board will abide by its directive,” Dash added.
While the Matric offline examination is scheduled for Friday, BSE president Ramashis Hazra said the Board has completed all formalities for the smooth conduct of the examination with strict adherence to COVID-19 guidelines.
Talking about the conduct of the examination, he said the students will be allowed to enter the examination centres after a thermal screening. Apart from this, all teachers, centre superintendents and observers engaged in the conduct of the examination have undergone the antigen test.
“Apart from this, a special COVID squad has been formed to review and monitor the COVID situation in all the centres that have been kept under observation,” he added.
Hazra further said the questions papers have been despatched to all examination centres.
A total of 15,136 students will appear in the offline examination in 504 centres which will conclude on August 5.
