Pune: Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has decided to postpone its 117th convocation to be held online on Thursday. 7,035 graduates and postgraduate students from different disciplines were to receive their degree certificate in the ceremony.
The University’s decision came in wake of the Centre’s decision to mourn the passing away of former President Pranab Mukherjee for seven days.
Dr Naushad D Forbes, co-chairman, Forbes Marshall Pvt. Ltd will be the chief guest at the event where he will address graduates through video conferencing. The ceremony will be presided over by Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari who will deliver the keynote address, reported The Indian Express.
Due to the coronavirus outbreak, the convocation is being held online. All the students will be sent their degree certificates by post in the next 15 days to the address mentioned in their application.
