New Delhi: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has announced an extension of the deadline for four scholarship schemes — Ishan Uday scholarship, Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Girl Child, PG scholarship for SC/ST students in the professional course and PG Scholarship — for rank-holders of the university.
The last date of submission of the applications has now been extended till January 20 and for verification of applications, the last date is February 5, 2021. Candidates can access their applications on the official website following registration.
“The students are advised to submit their online applications well in time so that their institutions are able to verify applications within the prescribed timelines. The eligible Institutions are also advised to verify applications of their students immediately after receiving the applications on the portal. It would be in the interest of students, if all the applications are verified by institutions by January 31, 2O21, so that they are able to correct/rectify the defected applications,” the UGC notification read.
The Ishan Uday scholarship, a special scheme for North-East students, is distributed among 10,000 shortlisted candidates. Students pursuing general degree programmes are given Rs 5,400 per month and for technical, medical, professional or paramedical programmes, the amount is Rs 7,800 per month.
However, under the PG Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child, girl students without brothers or a twin/fraternal sister and pursuing postgraduate courses are given Rs 36,200 per annum.
Meritorious students of PG scholarship scheme receive an amount of Rs 3,100 per month. Students with outstanding performance at the undergraduate level are entitled for this sum.
