Patna: The Bihar government declared on Saturday that general category women candidates of central and state civil services examinations like UPSC will be entitled to ₹1 lakh as an incentive after passing the prelims.
According to an official, the state government’s Women and Child Development Corporation (WCDC) would provide the amount to the aspirants for preparing for the main examination and subsequent interviews.
“The government has started this scheme to encourage the performance of women of Bihar in the Union Public Service Commission and Bihar Public Service Commission exams. Women who have been successful in the preliminary exams of UPSC or BPSC conducted in 2021 can apply for it”, WCDC Managing Director Harjot Kaur Bamhara was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
The Managing director also said that the incentive will be given to those women aspirants who have not received financial assistance or grants under civil services encouragement schemes in the past.
Earlier, only the candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and other backward classes were entitled to such incentives. The scheme has now been extended to the rest of the women aspirants in the state.
“This amount (₹1 lakh) would be a lump sum so that candidates do not face problems in preparing for the main examination. The government will directly transfer the amount to the bank account of the candidate,” said Bamhara.
According to her, online applications under the scheme are being accepted till December 3.
