Pune: Twenty-five-year-old son of a vegetable seller from Pune has landed a job in the world’s largest multinational e-commerce company Amazon.
Hrishikesh Raskar, who is an IIT-Roorkee graduate, initially failed to find a dream job and had to be content with a small start-up as his first venture.
Raskar knew from the very beginning that his family financial condition was not sound enough to support his education. He worked hard to get education for himself.
The meritorious student took up several odd jobs like freelance tech writing and online tutoring to back his education. A focussed Raskar put in about 12-14 hours a day in study on weekdays. On weekends, he would try and improve his practical skills as a backend engineer.
“I brushed up my fundamentals and re-learnt engineering concepts better so that I could truly apply my knowledge to find solutions,” Raskar said in a statement issued on the occasion of World Youth Skills Day on July 15. He also said that he was grateful to his friends and family for the encouragement, reported The Indian Express.
He also gained practical knowledge from industry experts by joining ed-tech start-up Scaler Academy for upskilling students and working professions in their first batch.
