Kolkata: West Bengal will reopen schools on November 16 but with staggered timings for classes IX to XII, according to officials of the state education department.
“According to an order issued by the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education while students of classes IX and XI would have to report at 9:30am and their classes would be held from 10am to 3:30pm, students of classes X and XII would have to report at 10:30am and their classes would be held from 11am to 4:30am,” an official was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.
The order also said that hostels may be opened strictly adhering with safety and COVID-19 protocols. With local training not operating, school-heads have been asked to issue passes to the students and teachers for availing staff special trains.
The West Bengal education department will also announce the class X and XII board exams schedules for 2022 on Monday. Earlier this year, the board exams for 2021 were called off owing to COVID-19 pandemic.
